City Briefing
Urban form and spatial demographics
Tuesday 23 October 2018
5.00-6.15pm followed by refreshments
MacroPlan, Level 52, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place, Sydney
Sydney’s population is expected to grow from five to seven million well before 2040. Not less than 700,000 dwellings will be required to accomodate that growth. How will they be spatially distributed and what forms are needed to meet the rapid growth? Former NSW Government Architect Peter Poulet discusses how Sydney will look with seven million people.
Speaker:
Peter Poulet, the 23rd NSW Government Architect, has left that role to become the new Central District Commissioner for the Greater Sydney Commission.
Before his appointment as Government Architect, Peter Poulet worked for many years as an architect in Australia and Japan, winning several public awards. During his tenure the Government Architect’s office changed its role from design and construct to strategic design advice. This ended 200 years of designing and constructing public buildings.
