PTW Architects, Level 11, Aurora Place, 88 Phillip Street Sydney
What characteristics will buildings of the future need to be both sustainable and resilient? Professor Sara Wilkinson of UTS will discuss current issues of sustainability and resilience in a time of cladding and construction failures. Who will/can pay for the current rash of building failures? How are we to deal with current issues while future proofing our built environment at a time of furious construction activity? Sara’s research has never been more pertinent to the situation in Sydney as we near the end of 2019. Join us for an insider’s view of property and construction issues.
Professor Sara Wilkinson, UTS School of the Built Environment, works at the intersections of sustainability, urban development and transformation. Her research aims to improve local, national and international outcomes of development in built environments in respect of climate change and a growing, increasingly urbanised, global population. She has worked on public and private sector projects, from building defect diagnosis and advice, to commercial due diligence, to design of adaptation and adaptive reuse projects in residential and commercial property and post contract administration. In January 2019, she became Australia’s first female Professor of Property.
The main foci underpinning her research, teaching and professional work are;
